Do you write the music or the lyrics first?

Changes all the time. I've got piles of brilliant lines I've wrtten on cocktail napkins just shy of last call, but they don't always pan out in the light of day. (i'm sure there are a few folks who can relate)

Where do you get your inspiration for your songs?

life is a movie, i'm an aspiring director. But it's the low-budget kind, and i'm digging in my levis for the matinee price. I've taken alot of road trips that end up being research of some type. That kind of information takes awhile to settle in to my psyche, but it tends to reappear when it wants to.

why do you always wear a baseball cap?

well, I am an avid sports fan, and I have a cold head. I'm usually sporting a Pirates or Steelers cap because I am loyal even when either or both blow the big games. Not that I'm bitter.

when did you start playing the piano?

I was forced as a child to take piano lessons from Mrs. Schaffer. My sister and I would both go, and during her lesson I would steal candy from Mrs. Schaffer's kitchen. Once I tried to take a bunch of those colored stars that you lick, but she told me to open my hand and there they all were stuck to my sweaty palm. I liked licking them.

Do you like playing solo or with a band better?

I like a balance of the two. I have to be better behaved when I play alone, as the songs that work that way tend to be a little quieter. I can only be well behaved for so long.
